Thursday, December 31, 2015; 11:55 PM; goodbye 2015. what a year.
somehow i only remember that I have a personal blog whenever its at the end of the year/start of the year haha.
where did 2015 go. everything went by so quickly.
in summary, went to Taiwan in Jan 2015, resigned in Sept 2015, UK + Ireland in Oct/Nov 2015, Hong Kong in Dec 2015.
2015 was really a whirlwind of a year. but i wouldnt have changed anything about it.
2016 will be a new start for me. and i'm 25 (?!), means should be a turning point in my life already :O
Sunday, January 18, 2015; 11:51 PM; 2015!
gosh! where did 2014 go? :O
there were definitely things i wish i did / did better in 2014, but lets look ahead now :D
I NEED TO UP MY WORK GAME. MORE MORE.
cook more variety of dishes haha. my repertoire still.. falls short?
came back from taiwan with the brudders. and now its only 1 month to CNY, so engine is not revved up sufficiently yet. WHICH is a problem.
taiwan was awesome and fun, since i've never been to taiwan. covered mainly hualien, alishan, cingjnig, taipei. would love to travel more, but in turn my work will get compromised :/ it was also my 1st flight with scoot. sat on Barry & Goin' Scootin' :D pocket wasnt that badly burnt.. haha. days of leave left for 2015 is only 6 full days left I think. Thank goodness 2015 is packed with long weekends.
another target is to be fitter, hence..... hehehe. let see how it goes.
currently into my last 3 lessons of Thai at a totally beginners' level. The more i study Thai, the more I miss Korean lol. who knows, i might go and take TOPIK?
hx jiayous! :)
Saturday, August 16, 2014; 9:49 PM; hello ppcdl!
* I'm only publishing this post on the day I pass my PPCDL :] so I'm pre-writing as much of the entire journey prior to the actual pass date (in case i keep failing haha)
Those reading may wonder.. What is PPCDL? Its "Powered Pleasure Craft Driving Licence"! aka boating licence :D there's 2 parts that you need to pass before you can get the licence, firstly theory exam, before you can take the practical exam.
I only passed on my 3rd theory test booking (1st time i failed, 2nd time I was very ill on that day so I had to miss it, and i passed the 3rd time!)
Then recently I was thinking what were some of the things that I have yet to complete, and since I passed my theory component on 5th Feb 2014, I almost forgot that there is still the practical component to pass in order to get the actual card haha. So 2 days back (this was typed on 5th July), I finally decided to take the practical and i really want to pass it on the first try! After all I started my journey before I started work lol.
My journey and expenditure so far...
0. Compulsory Health Check up + Doctor Endorsement - Did it at UHC on 9May 2013 (~SGD25? can't remember)
1. PPCDL Course @ MCC 20& 21 May 2013 (SGD $151 nett on Qoo10)
2. 1st Theory Test 9 th July 2013 (SGD $21.40 with gst)
3. 2nd Theory Test 14 Aug 2013 (SGD $21.40 with gst)
3. 3rd Theory Test 5 Feb 2014 (SGD $21.40 with gst)
4. Optional Refresher Course @ 15 Aug 2014 (SGD$240 for 2 hours)
5. Practical Assessment 16 Aug 2014 (SGD $53.50 with gst)
6. Card fee upon passing (SGD $20)
hence if i pass on 16 Aug 2014, total amount spent on this would be... Approximately SGD$553.70! Okay lah, compared to a car driving licence, its definitely more affordable. I also took advantage of the online deal and student health check up prices, so that I could spend lesser since I'm paying for this entire course on my own.
I choose to spend on the optional refresher course to recap all that I have forgotten lol, and to reduce chances on failing/wasting more time/spending potentially more $. It's also a lifetime licence, so why not? :D
Riding a jetski in SG requires a PPCDL, unlike other countries, so I guess that's one reason why I decided to go for the test. Also, my dad has the licence too! Although our boat has been sold since my dad's knees aren't good anymore, so maybe with this licence we can reintroduce another boat to the family! Personally I enjoy driving vehicles a lot, so that's another motivation for me to get the licence :)
Balancing work and this at the same time, so I hope I can clear this challenge in one go! :D
*update: i passed on my 1st attempt! :) i was very nervous, and even forgot some answers during my oral test.. but i think i was VERY VERY lucky to be tested by a kind and friendly examiner. I did okay during my practical, managing to do MOB and berthing portside alongside at one go, but stumbled abit during the oral component. was asked about 4/5 questions, recognizing lights/shapes on vessels, sound signals, and there were 2 styrofoam mini boats for testing the collision question. just mailed out the form, photo and $20 card application fee! hope to get it in the next month :D onto the next challenge!
Wednesday, January 01, 2014; 3:50 PM; first post for 2014
HAPPY NEW YEAR! HAPPY 2014!
had abit of coffee, hence the highness hehe. but since no one is here, its okay haha.
today is also the day i woke up to news that yoona and lee seunggi are dating lol.
browsing through fb/ig/twitter and seeing all sorts of resolutions being announced. i'm not the sort that will announce, but that doesnt mean i have no aims/goals/resolution.
some resolutions i saw include one of my scamp og mates aiming to save 3k by june14 and by keeping her meals to $10/day (since she's still studying). reminds me of what i need to do for our trip too :) save save! but since im already working, its easier. other resolutions include good health, good fyp or graduating successfully etc.
so... as a reminder/motivation to myself as to what i would like to achieve and do i 2014 :) in no order of importance whatsoever~ *ps,im actually doing random freelance review writing at the tsl, so i wrote some resolutions there as well, im getting paid a very small amount but since its accumulative its ok haha. the first four are from the tsl forum post, with the brackets as extensions*
1. Save up as much as possible [for so many reasons! belated grad trip with the girls, my 2nd hand car...]
2. Learn at least the basics for Autocad & AI [haha mainly for work, it gets really frustrating when there are so many basic things to be done yet the designers are 'too busy' with what they have on hand. it gets really frustrating. really. sketchup is a good alternative to learn also, and i've sort of know the basics but the industry doesnt use this :/]3. Reap in at least $x worth of projects --- where x is a number that only I shall know! [okay, i was thinking about this, and am still wondering if the monetary value or number of projects are more important. now that im re-reflecting on this, it could go either way really :/ the worst is i've been getting many quotes but our success rate quite low. okay, lets rephrase and reset this goal. EITHER 12 fitout projects (1 per month sounds fair for a rookie like me, excluding the ckw VC /rwss/lc OG) obtained by 31dec 2014 OR revenue value of >$800k. once i reached either one, i must continue to hit the other goal in this 'clause']4. Learn and practice as much as I can in my field. [means taking on more projects, be more hands on and more on the ground. sigh, means i need to free myself from restrictions as much as possible... jiayous hx!]
5. cook more often! and learn more recipes haha. hx, stop cooking the same things! and hopefully i can share them with everyone around me :) some things i have in mind now are rosti/truffle fries/shepherds pie (haha)
6.go overseas (refer to point 1 haha). i assume that the girls and the brudders are dead admant on going overseas this year, wow, i need to save alot :/ and my car.....
7. be financially more secure and more money smart. but points 1 & 6... i must stretchhhh my $$$
8. learn more things, anything really. it could be random languages or skill sets. just need to learn more :)
my bro's also enlisting into army this year! haha omg. and now that its January, means both our birthdays are near! haha. he's turning 20 (OMO) and me 23 haha.
jiayous hx! maybe 2014 be a good year!
Saturday, November 09, 2013; 11:39 PM; cook cook cook!
wow, its been a long time since i've blogged here, and the
layout has changed :O
have been working full
time for about 3mths+ now :D cant wait for more things to come my way tbh. in
fact, i use the office computer much more than i use my laptop at home nowadays
hehe, so the laptop keyboard is starting to feel abit unfamiliar to me :/ more
importantly, we're moving office and we're getting real namecards finally
:D
so strangely, i've got
the itch to cook more at home, like to try out more dishes and increase my
recipe repertoire XD so i was thinking that maybe I could list out all the
things i've tried before as a way to recall and reflect what i've done in the
past few conscious years. i've mostly taken pics to remember, but still :/
here goes!
i've done... (and succeeded..)
-spaghetti through
cheese sausages with bacon in portobello marinara (just today hehehe)
- pasta salad
- tea leaf egg
- minestrone soup
- rice cooker chicken
rice
- oyster sauce vegetable
with garlic oil
- baked cheesy
pasta
- salad with croutons,
shredded roasted chicken in lime+olive oil dressing
- baked portobello
mushrooms with cheese & ham/bacon
- lemon roasted chicken with rosemary & roasted potatoes
- winter melon soup with
pork balls
- steamed stuff cabbage
rolls
- butter beans and bacon
(this one (Y))
- parmesan chicken cutlet
- tuna kimchi jjigae
- pork luncheon meat
bruchetta
- sweet
tomato asparagus lasagnetti
- chicken mayo with baguette
- minced chicken lasagne
- german bratwurst sausage with scrambled egg wrap
- chocolate lava cake
- aglio olio (many versions, my fave way to satisfy a savoury craving)
- steamed egg with crabstick
- mooncakes!
- parmesan chips
- honey cornflakes (a total hit with scamp13 people lol)
- some which i cannot recall, will add if i remember for my reference :D
i'm still a terrible baker lol, i failed about 2 cakes now :/ both came out too dense, and ironically my mum and bro are great bakers (and cook/chef) hahaha. but now, cant say i cant cook or what~ i mostly learn read these recipes online, and when i see one which im interested in (and cant forget), i need to try it otherwise i wouldnt be satisfied haha. im opening to requests/learning, as long there isnt seafood and chillis involved XD
tomorrow i will be attempting roasted pork! cant wait hehehe :D:D:D jiayous hx!
Monday, January 28, 2013; 1:26 AM;
snsd came back on 1st jan 2013 with I Got A Boy! XD
wow, my first post of 2013, blogging is something i havent done regularly on a personal basis anymore :/ so much has happened. even the layout for blogger has changed! hehe.
why am i back, to post?
because i think you may just be reading this post. curious minds yeah. even if you dont read this, im okay with it too, because how big of a difference will this make? :)
it's fine really. when people get too busy, they tend to forget. and it wouldnt be smth that i think you would have jotted down and looked at it easily when you were busy anyways. sometimes, im even grateful when you remembered the smaller things that happened so long ago. really, im very surprised.
but you forgot such an important thing to me. i didnt expect much, all i needed was that little bit. but no need to feel bad, really. i mean, lets stop with the apologies. i guess everyone's and everything's importance to someone will always be changing :)
in fact, i've forgotten the email to this blogger account, but luckily i managed to retrieve it. XD
now im living practically at least 4 lives. 1 as SCAMP MVP head, 1 as OMG's tall admin, 1 as Krys at work and 1 as hx as i can be. balancing isnt that hard actually, i'm actually enjoying doing everything im doing now :)
i'm starting to learn to let go of the smaller things, not to be so uptight and sensitive about everything. you'll be proud and happy to know that im doing so right? :)
thank you for everything :) but somehow i cant convey it well.
Tuesday, February 21, 2012; 2:00 AM;
havent posted here since oct2011. its now feb2012. abit emo, so i decided to come back here. not like anyone will return here right. FIRST POST OF 2012 yo.
nevermind if you do come back here, in an attempt to stalk me.
bx took an earlier flight out to Korea on 20th Feb 2012, and we wont be seeing her till July.
yes, of course i will miss her. im lying if i say otherwise.
my snsd buddy, my OMG co-owner, my brudder-sistar, my seonsaengnim.
for this few months, she will definitely be leaving a HUGE void in my life. and also other people's life (like maple's and the brudders). but the void she left on me is quite big, to say the least.
sure, we'll be contacting each other on whatsapp/twitter/msn, but it just wont be the same. from someone whom i met very often to someone i wont see for months. im quite the 'physical touch' person, so its just not the same if the person isnt there physically.
its not my first void. i'll get through it soon. im full of holes anyway, maybe one more hole wouldnt matter. yeah right.
haha, it sounds overly cheesy, but yeah. this is how i feel. and honestly, im quite protective of her also, i guess everyone wants to protect the younger one. especially when im the oldest one?
feb is the month of goodbyes for me. annyeong.
